Film, simulated
from the crystal up.
Not a LUT. Not a grain overlay. Emulsion exposes your footage onto a simulated film stock, develops it and prints it, crystal by crystal.
Digital in, film out
The same ungraded frames: a standard digital transform on the left, Emulsion on the right.
Zoom until the grain
becomes crystals
Drag or pinch to zoom from the whole frame down to single crystals. Every level is in-engine footage, rendered fresh at its own magnification. Switch to Mid-development to freeze the film halfway through processing and see the crystals themselves.
Image from Grain
There is no clean picture underneath with grain on top. Every pixel is built from the crystals inside it.
Put a classic lens
in front of the film
Thirteen designs, from an 1840 Petzval to a modern cine prime. Light is traced through every glass surface, so softness, distortion, colour fringing and fall-off all come from the optics.
Pick a lens to see it on the frame above. Reconstructed from published patents and literature; not licensed or endorsed by any lens maker.
The glow is the film,
not a filter
Light bounces off the film base and comes back up into the red layer first. That's why halation is red. Rem-jet keeps it faint; remove it and it blooms.
